Have Your Say

If elected, Labor Shadow Health Minister Catherine King and Labor’s Deputy Leader and Shadow Minister for Women, Tanya Plibersek, have vowed to scrap GST on tampons – a move they support only if they can “offset” the loss by adding GST to natural medicine consults. They also support axing Private Health Insurance rebates for popular natural therapies supported by more than 2 in 3 women.

Their position is based on flawed reviews they commissioned in 2012 which, using unheard of scientific methods and while ignoring positive evidence, determined there was ‘no conclusive evidence’ for 17 natural therapies including Naturopathy, Herbalism and Pilates.
